General Guidelines for Brushing, Rolling and Spraying DiamondFinish Clear and KBS MAXX Clear

• For best results, apply in temperatures between 50–82°F and only in moderate to dry conditions. Avoid application during rain, high heat, or high humidity.
• Before each use, stir DiamondFinish Clear thoroughly—but gently—using a paint paddle, making sure to lift and mix from the bottom of the can to the top.
• When using KBS MAXX Clear, begin by thoroughly mixing KBS MAXX Clear Base. It’s recommended to use a KBS Hurricane Paint Mixer, or a similar mechanical mixing blade attached to a variable speed drill for efficient mixing. Once the KBS MAXX Clear Base has been mixed well and reaches a smooth, consistent texture, carefully measure 3 parts of the mixed base into a clean mixing cup or container. Next, add 1 part of MAXX Activator. Be sure to mix the two components thoroughly.
• Apply a minimum of three thin, even coats.
• For proper curing, apply multiple thin coats instead of fewer, thicker ones. Avoid puddling and pooling.
• When using a brush or roller, apply and move on immediately instead of repeatedly brushing. This prevents solvents from being forced out, ensuring proper flow and avoiding premature curing and visible brush marks.
• Re-coating can be done once the previous coat is dry to the touch and no longer leaves a fingerprint—usually within 2–4 hours, depending on temperature and humidity. For best results, apply additional coats within 8 hours of the previous coat curing.
• Allow DiamondFinish Clear to dry completely. Under normal conditions, the work piece can be handled after 1 day, with full cure achieved in at least 7 days. Avoid rain, high humidity, and abrasion during this curing period.

When Brushing

• Thinning is usually unnecessary when brushing, but if needed to improve flow out, it can be thinned by about 10% using KBS #1 Thinner or Xylene only.
• Optional Thinning: While KBS MAXX Clear Base and MAXX Activator are pre-thinned and ready to use for brushing, rolling, or spraying, you may choose to thin the mixture further.

When Rolling

• Use a low nap roller cover, like a mohair roller.
