DiamondFinish Clear is a moisture-cured urethane that uses advanced resin technology — and in some ways behaves opposite of traditional solvent-based and latex paints. Understanding how humidity and temperature drive its cure will help you get the best results every time.
Ideal Cure Conditions Temperature: 55–82°F | Fastest cure: 70–80°F Relative Humidity: 30–85% | Faster cure as humidity approaches 85% |
How to Speed Up the Cure
Because DiamondFinish Clear is moisture-cured, adding humidity to the curing space is the most effective way to accelerate cure time — the opposite of what you'd do with a conventional paint. Try one or more of these:
• Wet the floor of the room
• Place wet cardboard or wet towels on the floor
• Run a humidifier in the curing space
• Use any other method that safely raises room humidity
⚠ Winter Slow Cure — Common Culprit: Low Humidity We frequently hear from customers in winter months about DiamondFinish Clear curing slower than expected. In nearly every case, the cause is low indoor humidity. Heated indoor air in winter is very dry — adding moisture to the room almost always resolves the issue. |
💡 Don't Over-Cure Curing too fast can affect the flow-out of brush or roller marks and impact adhesion. Stay within the recommended window — 55–82°F and 30–85% RH — for the best-looking, best-bonding finish. |
🔁 Always Stir Before Each Use It's a common assumption that clear coats don't need stirring — but DiamondFinish Clear's resins, solvents, and additives can separate between uses. Not stirring before application is a known cause of both application problems and abnormally long cure times. Stir thoroughly every time you open the can. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Add humidity to the curing space. The closer the relative humidity is to 85%, the faster DiamondFinish Clear will cure. Practical options include wetting the floor, placing wet towels or cardboard in the room, or running a humidifier. Keep temperature between 55–82°F for best results.
Low indoor humidity is almost always the cause. Heated indoor air in winter can be very dry, and because DiamondFinish Clear needs ambient moisture to cure, dry conditions will significantly slow the process. Add humidity to the room — a humidifier or wet towels on the floor usually does the trick.
Yes. Curing too quickly can affect brush and roller mark flow-out and compromise adhesion. Always keep conditions within the recommended range: 55–82°F and 30–85% relative humidity.
Yes — stir it thoroughly before every use. Even though it's a clear coat, the resins, solvents, and additives can separate between uses. Skipping this step is a common cause of application problems and unusually long cure times.
