RustBlast Before KBS MAXX Clear

KBS Klean (with some elbow grease depending on the dirtiness of the surface) is the best way to properly prep a metal surface before applying KBS MAXX Clear. RustBlast is a powerful acid etch that leaves a dusting of zinc phosphate — a white powdery residue that can cloud a clear coat applied over it. RustBlast also etches the metal surface and can slightly alter its appearance, so keep this in mind if your goal is to preserve the bare metal look.

It is best to simply prep the metal surface with KBS Klean and skip RustBlast when applying KBS MAXX Clear with the intention of protecting the surface while keeping the bare metal look. KBS MAXX Clear is formulated to adhere directly to metal and will have powerful adhesion to a surface prepped with KBS Klean.
