Can Metallic Colors of Motor Coater Be Brushed?

Spraying Motor Coater produces the best metallic finish — the spray process allows the metallic pigments to float to the surface, creating that distinctive metallic sparkle. That said, spraying isn't always an option, and we get that.

An extremely popular brushing technique is to brush out the Motor Coater, let the coat cure for a few minutes, then lightly brush the surface again in one direction. This second pass helps float the metallic pigments to the surface, giving you a beautiful metallic sparkle finish even when brushing. As with all painting techniques, practice makes perfect.

💡 Pro Tip
The key to the brushing technique is the second pass — let the coat cure for a few minutes first, then brush lightly in one direction only. Overbrushing or going in multiple directions will work the pigments back down and reduce the metallic effect.
