RustSeal has been thoroughly tested and can be applied when the air and surface temperatures are between 55°F–82°F and relative humidity is between 30–80 RH.
RustSeal Application Requirements at a Glance Temperature (air & surface): 55°F – 82°F | Relative Humidity: 30 – 80 RH |
Keep the following in mind when planning your application:
- The surface temperature is typically lower than the air temperature. Make sure both surface and air temperatures are within the 55–82°F range before you begin.
- If the temperature is too high, the solvents in RustSeal can evaporate too quickly, causing a less-than-ideal finish and possible adhesion issues.
- If the humidity is below 30 RH, RustSeal may take much longer to cure, which can result in a less-than-ideal finish.
- If the humidity is above 80 RH, RustSeal may cure too quickly, causing a less-than-ideal finish and possible adhesion issues.
- When conditions are outside the ideal range, always wait to apply until both temperature and humidity are within range.
- If temperature or humidity is too low, allow extra cure time beyond what the RustSeal Directions state.
- Always allow RustSeal to reach 55–82°F before application.
- RustSeal can be shipped or stored in below-freezing temperatures with absolutely no effect on the product. Always allow it to return to 55–82°F before applying.
